｢ナイジェリアからの手紙｣詐欺
手口としてはかなり昔からある有名な詐欺……らしい｡
少し前、日本テレビの｢特命リサーチ200XⅡ｣でも取り上げていたので知ってる人も多いと思う｡
文面は読めない(何せ英語は落第寸前だったから)のだが、冒頭に"Nigerian"とあったので気がついた｡
数字(だけ)から判断して
”５千５百万U.S.ドルを安全に海外へ送金するためあなたの口座を使わせてくれれば10％をあなたに差し上げます”
という内容らしい｡
なぜナイジェリアなのか？ということについては個人的な考えだが
｢普段ニュースなどで見ない地域なので『高官が莫大な利益を着服してる』とか『政情が不安定で金を海外へ持ち出したい』と言われればなんとなく『そうかも知れない』と思ってしまう｣
からではないかと思う｡
(実際にはそんな事は無いらしい)
この手紙に対する対応なのだが
徹底的に無視する｡
以外に無いらしい｡
返事など出そうものならダイレクトメールさながらに勧誘のメールが来るらしいから注意である｡
私の場合は最初に２通、２週間後にもう１通来たが、無視したらそれ以降は来なくなった｡

Sir/
I am Dr. (Mrs) Mariam Abacha wife to the late Nigerian
Head of State, General Sani Abacha who died on the 8th
of June 1998 while on active duty. I am contacting you
in view of the fact we will be of great assistance to
each other, likewise developing a cordial business
relationship.
I currently have within my reach the sum of Fifty-five
Million United States Dollars ($55,000,000,00) cash,
which I intend to use for investment purposes
specifically in your country. This money came as a
result of a pay-back contract deal between my late
husband and a Russian firm in our country痴
Multi-billion dollar Ajaokuta Steel plant. The Russian
partners returned my Husband痴 share of
US$55,000,000.00 U.S.D after his death, and lodged it
in my late husband痴 Security company of which I am a
Director Right now, the new Civilian Government has
intensified their probe on my late Husband痴 Financial
resources and have frozen our accounts. In view of
these facts, I acted fast to withdraw the
US$55,000,000.00 U.S.D from the company痴 vault and
deposited it in a privately owned security safe in my
village. I have since declared the security company
bankrupt. No record whatsoever exists concerning the
money traceable by the Government because, there is no
documentation showing that we received the money from
the Russians.
Due to the current situation in the country concerning
the Government痴 attitude towards my husband, it has
become quite impossible for me to make use of this
money within; thus upon consent, I shall expect you to
contact me urgently to enable us discuss in detail
about this transaction.
Bearing in mind that your assistance is needed to
transfer this fund, I propose a commission of 10% (ten
percent) of the total sum to you for the expected
services and assistance. Your urgent response is
highly needed so as to stop further contact. All
correspondence must be by E-mail. I must use this
opportunity to implore you to exercise the utmost
indulgence to keep this matter extraordinarily
confidential, whatever your decision, while I await
your prompt response.
